2024-03-01

Banasan, the leading Colombian banana exporter based in Santa Marta with over 18 years of experience in the market, exports approximately 13 million boxes of bananas annually from small, medium, and large producers. The company reaffirms its commitment to the care of natural resources.  With the ASR4WS Project, Banasan aims to strengthen water security in Zona Bananera through a feasibility study of artificial recharge and recovery of aquifers on the region's farms. "This project, achieved through Banasan's international cooperation management with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, especially with the Dutch Business Agency, Partners for Water, Deltares, the Dutch Water Research Center (KWR), the Colombian Foundation Herencia Ambiental Caribe, and Banasan, is of utmost importance for optimizing water use in our processes," said Estefanía Lagos, Sustainability Director of Banasan.

She warned that they remain at the forefront of technological challenges and innovation for the sustainable production of bananas, strengthening national and international cooperation ties and socio-environmental performance through research aimed at the region's water security. Banasan recently received a sustainability excellence certification from CHEP.

This recognition validates the company's and its suppliers' efforts, favouring the circular economy and environmental protection.
