2024-02-09

Over 3 million containers were mobilized in the Port Terminal of Guayaquil (TPG) in the last six years, with an annual average of 500,000 TEUs. It was indicated by the entity in the latest figures after the closing of 2023. According to Luis Enrique Navas, its general manager, in that year, the transfer of containers registered a significant increase, from 487,904 containers in 2022 to 507,223 in 2023.

The TPG also highlighted that last year, 388 vessels of various drafts were berthed, and in recent years, it received large ships with lengths of up to 370 meters. "The TPG efficiently served large vessels thanks to our operational capacity, advanced technology and a team of highly qualified and experienced professionals," said Navas.

According to the TPG, it mobilized more than 3 million containers in the last six years.

According to the terminal, the most traded products were bananas, shrimp, timber, cocoa, canned tuna, and mining concentrate. The primary destinations were countries in Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

Navas emphasized that one of the keys to the terminal's service is flexibility, as it adapts to the requirements of each client. To improve its services, he indicated that future investments would focus on technology and automation.

Plans are focused on acquiring new equipment for the yards and ship service. They also plan to expand their clean energy connection capacity, which aligns with TPG's sustainability policy.
