2024-01-19

In order to provide a direct outlet to the producers of the Tembiaporã district, the department of Caaguazú, the head of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, Claudia Centurión, announced the asphalt paving of 40 kilometres within the framework of the realization of the Banana Route, a long-awaited work. The objective is that banana producers from Caaguazú, specifically from the Tembiaporã district, can have a direct outlet to the national and international market.

The announcement was made within the framework of the visit of the Secretary of State to the area. Tembiaporã is considered the “Banana Capital”, considering that it is an area where the highest production of this fruit is recorded. In addition, bananas are exported from this district to Argentina and Uruguay, generating foreign exchange for the country for around USD 40 million a year. The business is estimated to represent the movement of 5,000 large trucks loaded with bananas.

The work will generate a high social and economic impact for the entire population, with social profitability of 45% and meets all the development requirements sought by this Government, in addition to contributing to a notable improvement in walkability and quality of life of some 25,000 people, he stated. According to the minister, work will start in 2025.
