The Mondoni Banana Company strengthens the presence of the Fruit Company in Cameroon.

The Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille, leader of the banana market in Cameroon, recently launched a new subsidiary in the country. The Mondoni Banana Company (CDBM) has been operational since June 2023 and strengthens the presence of the French agro-industrial multinational in the Cameroonian banana market. CDBM exported more than 3,000 tonnes of bananas between June and December 2023, with a significant shipment increase over the months.

CDBM was created three years ago by the local subsidiary of the Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille, Plantations du Haut Penja (PHP), to purchase the assets of the Société des Plantations de Mbanga (SPM). However, due to the slate left by the SPM and land disputes with local populations, the PHP finally abandoned its takeover project. CDBM was transferred to the South-West region, to London, where it operates.

With this new subsidiary, the Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille strengthens its dominant position in the Cameroonian banana market. In addition to CDBM, the multinational has provided technical assistance to the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) and Boh Plantations Plc (BPL), the two other major players in the banana industry in Cameroon, for years. This Compagnie Fruitière de Marseille expansion demonstrates its commitment to developing and consolidating its presence in the Cameroonian market.
