2023-12-15
The Association of Banana Growers of Magdalena and La Guajira–Asbama and the Colombian Agricultural Institute – ICA continue to shield the Colombian Caribbean from TR4. This week, the tour is through the municipalities of Ciénaga and Zona Bananera, in the department of Magdalena, where 74 small producers will attend a presentation and receive biosecurity kits to protect their farms.
On this occasion, the biosecurity and talk kits were given to 37 producers from Ciénaga and 37 from Zona Bananera. By the end of the year, the public-private partnership between ICA and Asbama will benefit 330 small producers, both in domestic trade and export.
So far, in 2023, the agreement between these two entities has impacted 238 small producers in national trade: 60 in Guajira, 8 in Cesar, and 170 in Magdalena. The biosecurity scheme of their farms has been strengthened, and each grower has been made aware of the risk of the disease.
