Plátano de Canarias Breaks Production Records

2023-11-17

Plátano de Canarias is breaking historical production records throughout 2023 and selling more than the levels before the eruption of the La Palma volcano, which the entire sector welcomes, according to Sergio Cáceres, manager and marketing director of Asprocan.  Cáceres indicates that the recovery has been rapid, although they have had to fight against the obstacle of consumers losing loyalty to the product due to the soaring prices of the previous year. However, they have managed to grow their sales by fourteen per cent.  Cáceres points out that the recovery of crops in La Palma, after the volcano eruption is progressing at a reasonably high level, except for the 220 hectares buried by lava. Asprocan hopes these lands will be recovered quickly to benefit all those affected. He believes there is still a lot of work to be done because "it is a complex situation due to the conditions of the land and the legal requirements".
