The Philippines has secured $603 million worth of purchasing agreements at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), with fresh fruits, such as bananas and durian, occupying the more significant chunk of the exports pie, according to the Philippines's Agriculture Attaché in Beijing.
During the first two days of the trade fair in China, Anna Abejuela, Agriculture Counselor at the Embassy of the Philippines in Beijing, said, 'We were busy dealing with turnovers of purchasing commitments from our major importers.'
'So as of November 6, at CIIE, we were able to produce a little bit over $600 million and most of these are fresh fruits,' Abejuela told reporters at a virtual media briefing.
The agriculture attaché emphasized that Philippine bananas comprised the most significant chunk of the purchasing agreements, followed by durian and pineapples.
