Peruvian Banana Exports Fall 12% in Volume

So far, in 2023, Peruvian banana exports reached 149,727 tons, registering a contraction of -12% compared to what was shipped in the same period of the previous year.
For the past two weeks, Peruvian banana shipments have stayed within the 3,000-ton mark exported. In this last week, product shipments totalled 2,906 tons, which was 7% less than the same week the previous year.
In the last week, Peruvian bananas reached ten destinations, of which the Netherlands stood out, with a 38% share (1,093 tons), Panama with 18% (515 tons), and Italy with 10% (279 tons).
34 Peruvian exporters participated, led by Pronatur S.A.C., with an 11% share, whose only destinations were the Netherlands (73%) and Spain (27%). Behind it was the Appbosa Agricultural Cooperative, with an 8% stake, whose shipments went mainly to Belgium (30%) and Italy (21%).
Closing the podium was Agronegocios San Miguel Arcángeles S.A.C., with 7%, distributing Peruvian bananas to Panama (47%) and Japan (32%). It is worth mentioning that 99.8% of all weekly shipments were from Paita.
