Ecuador: Puerto Bolívar to Receive New Batch of STS Cranes

2023-11-03

The Puerto Bolívar Maritime Terminal, operated by Yilport, will receive a new batch of STS and RTG cranes. The machines were manufactured by Mitsui E&S Machinery C and will arrive on November 21.

The new STS cranes, which left the Port of Oita in Japan on October 24, stand out for their reach capacity of 67 meters (24 rows), allowing them to serve the largest container ships, even those of up to 20,000 TEUs.

For its part, the E-RTG crane will stand out for its ability to handle operations in the yard.

With the addition of these new cranes, the Puerto Bolívar maritime terminal will have a total of six STS cranes, 18 RTGs and four mobile cranes, allowing efficient operations in an impressive 450 meters of berthing space.

The agreement represents a significant leap in the capacity and efficiency of the terminal that will play a key role in meeting the growing demands of Ecuador's maritime trade, the local Port Authority said.
