The Rural Development Sector of the Labor Party (P.T.) has been touring the various municipalities to learn about the damage left by the heavy rains of Hurricane Lidia.

In an interview, Mauricio Barreto Peralta, head of the Sector, said that "there is an important gravity" in banana and papaya crops, subject to the data being made official by the corresponding authorities.

He added that Hurricane Lidia surprised Colima with an "enormous rainfall in just 24 hours," for which the P.T. has been showing solidarity with the affected producers.

According to Mauricio Barreto, they also detected damage to some homes during the visit, including urban infrastructure, roads, workplaces, and the Agricultural Sector. “They were seriously damaged in areas surrounding the rivers of Coahuayana and Marabasco, on the borders of our state of Colima," he said.

According to data provided by producers, in the case of banana growers, there are effects on more than a thousand hectares. This is preliminary because assessments in the Marabasco River area continue.

In addition, he mentioned that the damage suffered in banana and papaya crops in Tecomán has not been fully quantified, especially on the banks of the Coahuayana River, an area very vulnerable to floods and winds.
