Maersk has introduced a new weekly ocean service connecting the Adriatic Sea with the Eastern Mediterranean, developed in partnership with ONE. This Adriatic Service links the ports of Koper, Venice, Rijeka, and Ancona with Damietta and Port Said, providing direct access from the Adriatic region to Egypt, along with onward connections throughout the broader Mediterranean.

Maersk designed this service with a streamlined port rotation to reduce transit times and enhance reliability. The fixed weekly schedule aims to offer customers greater consistency in planning their shipments across the corridor.

The carrier emphasised that Adriatic ports such as Koper and Venice have strong inland connections to key Northern European gateways, thereby extending the service's reach beyond the Adriatic and Eastern Mediterranean.

Maersk highlighted Egypt's increasing importance as a regional hub. According to OEC data, the country's total exports surpassed 53 billion US dollars in 2024. This strategic position enables cargo routed through Port Said or Damietta to access a broader market without complicating supply chains.

Maersk noted that demand for refrigerated transport in Mediterranean trade continues to rise, largely driven by food and perishable goods supply chains. The company believes that shorter transit times and direct routing will help maintain product quality and mitigate disruption risks for temperature-sensitive cargo.
