Cool Carriers has taken delivery of Snow Flake, the second vessel in its new-generation Snow-class series, following the arrival of its sister ship, Snow Flower, three months earlier. The vessel was officially named on June 29 at Kitanihon Shipbuilding in Japan during a ceremony attended by Chief Executive Officer Mikhail Ganyushin and Nikolay Pavlyuchenko, General Manager of Unireefer, the company's general agent in Ecuador, Peru, and Argentina.

The Snow-class vessels are purpose-built for the global refrigerated cargo market, with the capacity to transport up to 5,000 high-cube pallets of perishable cargo and 168 refrigerated containers at a service speed of 18 knots. Two vessels in the seven-ship series will offer cargo capacities exceeding 630,000 cubic feet, while the remaining five will provide approximately 660,000 cubic feet. Designed with advanced hulls, energy-efficient propulsion systems, and engines compliant with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and European Union environmental standards through at least 2030, the vessels are intended to improve both operational efficiency and environmental performance.

Snow Flake and Snow Flower are the first of seven next-generation Snow-class vessels scheduled for delivery by 2028, with another vessel expected to enter service later in 2026 as part of Cool Carriers' long-term fleet renewal programme. Chief Operating Officer Glenn Selling said the new vessels will strengthen the company's position on key refrigerated trade routes, including Chile, Ecuador, South Africa and Argentina, while supporting growing demand for efficient and sustainable cold-chain transportation.

During its inaugural deployment, Snow Flake will sail from Japan to New Zealand before serving ports in Spain and Italy. As additional Snow-class vessels join the fleet, each will be capable of carrying up to 14,000 pallets across under-deck storage and refrigerated containers, further increasing the company's capacity on major refrigerated trade routes for commodities such as bananas, kiwifruit, citrus, frozen meat and fish. Cool Carriers currently operates more than 50 specialised reefer vessels worldwide.
