2026-06-05
JBS Terminais, a part of JBS, is expanding its international shipping services at the Port of Itajaí (SC) by adding two new long-haul lines, bringing the total to 12. The company plans to invest approximately R$ 9 million in this expansion.
The new "UCLA/Gulf to SAEC String 1" line will connect Itajaí to the east coast of the U.S., the Caribbean, and northern South America, serving markets like Houston and Cartagena. The "Bossa Nova/Sirius 1" line will enhance connections between Santa Catarina and the Mediterranean, with hubs in Algeciras, Spain, and Tanger Med, Morocco.
This expansion is a part of JBS's ongoing growth strategy, with the port handling refrigerated cargo, meat, and other products. The port currently occupies 180,000 square meters, with an operational capacity of 1,030 meters of quay and 1,705 power outlets for refrigerated containers.
Since taking over operations in late 2024, JBS has invested around R$ 230 million, excluding the newly announced R$ 9 million. TEU movements have grown by an average of 12% per month.
"The investments and new routes are part of our strategy to enhance the Port of Itajaí's role in national logistics," stated Aristides Russi Junior, president of JBS Terminais.
