In the first quarter of 2026, the Piura department of Peru reported exports totalling US$954 million, marking an 11.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025, according to SUNAT data reported by ComexPerú. This figure accounted for 3.5% of Peru's total exports during that period, which reached US$27.217 billion.

Lima led the nation in exports, totalling US$ 3.714 billion, followed by Arequipa at US$ 3.057 billion, Ica at US$ 3.026 billion, Áncash at US$ 2.558 billion, and Puno at US$ 2.409 billion.

The growth in Piura's exports was primarily driven by non-traditional exports, which totalled US$839 million. Within this category, the agricultural sector contributed US$ 356 million, while the fishing sector accounted for US$ 322 million. Traditional exports reached US$ 115 million, mainly due to oil and its derivatives, which accounted for US$ 41.5 million.

Among the main exported products, fresh mangoes stood out, with shipments totalling US$206 million (an increase of 37.8%). Fresh bananas at US$ 23.8 million (up 0.7%). During this period, the United States solidified its position as the primary destination for Piura's exports, with a total value of US$ 282 million (up 6.3%). It was followed by the Netherlands at US$133 million (up 35.1%), China at US$121 million (up 31.2%), and Spain at US$55 million (up 3.7%).
