Ecuadorian Banana Exports Rise 1.77% in Q1 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, Ecuador exported 104.81 million boxes of bananas, marking a 1.77% increase from the 102.98 million boxes of about 42 pounds shipped during the same period in 2024.
According to the latest statistical report from the Ecuadorian Banana Exporters Association (AEBE), the largest trade group in the country's banana sector, the European Union (EU) continues to be the top destination for Ecuadorian banana exports, accounting for 31.58% of total shipments. Following the EU, Russia is the second-largest market, representing 20.6% of exports.
During the first three months of 2025, Ecuador shipped 33.1 million boxes of bananas to the EU, a 4.83% increase compared to the 31.58 million boxes exported in the same quarter of 2024. The Netherlands was the largest importer within the EU, receiving 7.2 million boxes, followed by Germany with 5.18 million boxes and Italy with 4.52 million boxes.
Ecuador's exports totalled 21.59 million boxes to Russia, reflecting a 9.19% increase from the 19.77 million boxes shipped in the first quarter of 2024. The United States ranked third among export destinations, with shipments totalling 13.83 million boxes.
