Prefect Johnny Terán is leading the "Siembra Hartón" agricultural program, an initiative to enhance rural productivity in Los Ríos by distributing 222,000 plantain plants, sufficient to cover 200 hectares of farmland.

This ambitious project, managed by the Directorate of Agricultural Management, benefits over 200 small and medium-sized producers organized into 50 farming associations. The Prefecture is investing $178,440 to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve living conditions in rural areas.

During a distribution event, Johnny Terán highlighted the significance of this initiative, noting the enthusiasm of farmers who appreciate the opportunity to boost their production. "We are investing in the growth of our rural communities. This program not only strengthens the provincial economy but also transforms the lives of those who work the land," said the Prefect.

The project's reach extends across 13 cantons in the province: Babahoyo, Baba, Buena Fe, Valencia, Quevedo, Montalvo, Puebloviejo, Vinces, Palenque, Mocache, Quinsaloma, Ventanas, and Urdaneta. Plant distributions occur in each locality during events where farming families receive direct support, transforming these days into authentic celebrations of rural progress.
