Paraguay: Banana Exporters Anticipate Closing 2024 with Profits

Based on current figures, banana producers in Paraguay expect to end 2024 with approximately USD 31 million in export revenues.
Hugo Franco, a banana producer, confirmed that considering the numbers obtained throughout 2024, expectations for the end of the year in terms of the export of this fruit are encouraging.
Franco explained in an interview with the GEN channel that, according to data from the Exporter's Single Window, exports had reached just over USD 28 million in revenue by the end of November.
2024 could end with a figure close to USD 31 million, although this amount is lower than the more than USD 36 million recorded in the previous period.
Argentina and Uruguay remain the main markets for Paraguayan bananas, and they are significant buyers who continue to bet on the national product. Franco said last winter was very difficult, resulting in lower production than last year. However, the product's value increased, generating greater profits for producers.
"This difference in lower yield in quantity and kilo/box per hectare was compensated by the price. For almost seven months, a fairly good price was maintained for banana exporters," said Franco.
