Peru exported 148,528 tons of bananas in November

Peru's banana exports in November 2024 totalled 11,315 tons, worth USD 9.6 million, marking an increase of 8% in volume and 4% in value compared to the same month of the previous year. These positive results have surpassed the cumulative total for the entire year 2023 (January-November), reporting shipments of 148,526 tons (+7%) for USD 130.6 million (+12%). In November this year, 95% of bananas were fresh and 5% processed. Export logistics were mainly channelled through Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos – Paita, which managed 97% of shipments, followed by DP World with 2%. From these terminals, Peruvian bananas were exported to fifteen destinations. The main markets maintained their positions: the Netherlands (37%), the United States (26%) and Italy (9%).
The Netherlands received 4,068 tons of Peruvian bananas worth USD 3.5 million, consolidating itself as the primary buyer. This represented an increase of 5% in volume, 15% in value and 9% in the average price. In this period, Pronatur S.A.C. stood out as the leading exporter to this market, with a 42% share of total shipments.
The United States acquired 3,118 tons worth USD 2.4 million. These results reflect an increase of 94% in volume and 22% in value but a decrease of 37% in the average price. Agronegocios Los Ángeles S.A.C. stood out as the leading supplier in this market, with 34% of shipments. Italy ranked third, receiving 901 tons valued at USD 866,000. This market experienced a 19% decrease in volume but a 5% increase in value and 29% in average price. IREN Perú S.A.C. led shipments with a 46% share in this case.
