Cameroon: 100 million FCFA given to Support the Banana-Plantain Sector

President of Cameroun Paul Biya has given 100 million FCFA to support the organization of the 3rd edition of the International Banana-Plantain Festival in the African country, which will be held from December 4 to 16, 2024.

This information was conveyed in a letter from the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic to the National President of the Banana-Plantain Sector Actors of Cameroon. "The Head of State has agreed to sponsor the 3rd edition of the International Banana-Plantain Sector Festival, which will take place from December 4 to 16, 2024, in Kribi, Douala, and Yaoundé. He has granted financial support of 100 million FCFA for the organization of this event," the letter states.

Minister of State Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, it was also announced that "the Head of State has designated the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development to represent him" at the event's ceremonies. The Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic informed the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Gabriel Mbairobe, through another correspondence.

The 3rd edition of the Banana-Plantain Festival began on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The festivities started in Douala with participants' arrival and gathering on December 5, followed by the official opening ceremony on December 6. Several agreements between sector actors will be signed during this ceremony. The program includes a city tour, an exhibition, a gala match between football legends from Cameroon and Brazil at the Japoma Sports Complex, and a music concert. The remaining festivities will take place in Kribi and Yaoundé.
