Peru Increases Banana Exports in October

In October 2024, Peruvian banana exports reached 13,489 tons, generating revenues of $11.7 million. This represented an increase of 10.5% in volume and 13.9% in value compared to the same month of the previous year. According to the report, the growth was due to an increase in exported volume and an improvement in the average price.
The main presentations of bananas exported in October were fresh (84.7%) and processed (15.3%). Regarding volume and value, fresh bananas reached 13,139 tons for $9.9 million, with an average price of $0.75 per kilogram. The primary destinations supplied with Peruvian bananas were the Netherlands (31.4% share), which imported 4,730 tons for $3.7 million. They were followed by the United States (26.9%), with 2,935 tons for $3.1 million; Italy (7.6%), with 1,245 tons for $888,000; Panama (6.9%), with 1,219 tons for $809,000; and South Korea (6.7%), with 937 tons for $780,000.
In total, 38 companies participated in banana exports in October 2024. Of these, 31 were involved in fresh banana shipments and 8 in processed bananas. The companies that stood out in fresh bananas were Pronatur S.A.C. (13.6% share), with shipments of 1,842 tons for $1.6 million. They were followed by Agronegocios Los Ángeles S.A.C. (12.3%), with 2,103 tons for $1.4 million, and Cooperativa Agraria de Servicios Múltiples APAGA (8.0%), which supplied 1,161 tons for $936,000.
In the case of processed bananas, the leading company was Inka Crops (99.8%), with shipments of 348 tons worth $1.8 million.
