Plátano Gabaceras presents its new ripening facilities
2024-10-04
Gabaceras will be present at Fruit Attraction in Madrid with its stand, and a firm strategy focused on boosting its international expansion and representing its values and those of the group it belongs to, Europlátano, one of the six organisations that make up "Plátano de Canarias". Founded in 1992 in the Valle de Aridane, on the island of La Palma, Europlátano has been marketing "Plátano de Canarias" under the Gabaceras brand since its inception. Since 2016, the group has expanded its presence in new and profitable European markets such as Switzerland, Poland, and France.
Currently, Europlátano, with 16% of the production of "Plátano de Canarias", accounts for 81% of exports to the European continent. Each year, Europlátano organises a trip with a group of partner farmers to give them first-hand knowledge of their fruit's process after leaving the islands, the market, or the competition. This exchange of information strengthens the field-market relationship, ensuring that all members work in the same direction.
New facilities in Bilbao to cover the national territory and boost export projects to Europe
Europlátano has become the only Producer Organization of "Plátano de Canarias" that independently covers the entire production chain. Its partner farmers, the sole owners of the group, control the process from the field to the homes, an innovative business model without intermediaries. For this purpose, the group has been developing an expansion project for years that allows them to have their ripening facilities in Alicante and, by the end of the year, will double their capacity with a new warehouse in Bilbao, thus covering the entire national territory directly.
This year, the group has renewed its image with a new logo that represents the growth the company has experienced while maintaining its values of quality and its goal of working for a sustainable, fair, and future-oriented agriculture. The new logo, developed by the agency Credo, and the colour scheme, inspired by the colours of the earth and the banana, evoke the quality and origin of the products.
