Banana producers in Tembiaporã, Paraguay, were visited by Ecuadorian experts in fruit production. These experts will train the workers of the local banana plantations to improve the quality of production in our country and gain a larger space in the international market.

Last year, Paraguay managed to export bananas for a value close to US$ 33 million, of which approximately 80% was harvested in Tembiaporã, recognised as the "Banana Capital" of the country.

Hugo Franco, the largest banana producer and exporter in this locality, expressed that the objective of bringing specialised technicians from Ecuador is to train the municipality's banana producers in adequately managing fungicides, prevent contamination of the plantations and fruits, and significantly improve the quality of the product.

Franco pointed out that our country exports bananas to Argentina and Uruguay. In addition, work is being done to consolidate in the Chilean market. Methods are also being analysed to preserve the fruit longer so that it can be exported to European countries.

Franco mentioned that the training will last three days and that, subsequently, each farmer will be responsible for implementing the acquired knowledge. He added that they will also seek ways to control the products' quality to standardise the fruit's specifications.
