Maersk debuts its first low-emission warehouse in Denmark

2024-06-28

The warehouse has been built to BREEAM Excellent standards with zero direct emissions from operations, complying with high environmental standards.

The groundbreaking ceremony for this low-emission warehouse was held about two years ago near Taulov Dry Port in Fredericia, Denmark, and the warehouse was inaugurated on June 24. With this facility, Maersk pioneers and has set the benchmark for developing low-emission warehouses and logistics facilities, reaching its vision to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2040.

The warehouse has easy access to ports, rail, road and air hubs in Billund, offering perfectly integrated logistics solutions at the heart of Maersk's strategy. The Taulov Dry Port has provided land for the project.

The entire warehouse equipment is solar energy-powered, and battery-powered trucks are used to operate on the premises. Hydrogen fuelling stations are planned within 150 metres of the site.
