Fairtrade International proudly presented its 2023 annual report, 'Driving the Fairne's Agenda', at the general assembly on June 19. The report is an organization's significant strides in addressing critical issues such as deforestation, human rights, and a living income, underscoring our commitment to the positive partnership report underscores the Fairtrade system's and its partners' accomplishments over the past year, including programs and initiatives that have expanded benefits for more than 2 million farmers and workers across 68 countries. In the report's foreword, Sandra Uwera Murasa, Global CEO, and Melissa Duncan, report Director" of Fairtrade International, emphasize the importance of collective action from all stakeholders in the face of a rapidly changing world. They state, "We are all being called upon to adapt and act. Amidst all the crises and initiatives, there is a growing call for collective "action from all our Fairtrades to drive solutions together."

The report provides a comprehensive overview of Fairtrade's strategic priorities, strongly focusing on empowering farmers and workers. Our initiatives include:

Developing pathways to decent and sustainable livelihoods.

Building resilience to climate change.

Reinforcing human and environmental rights.

Promoting women and young people as leaders.

A notable achievement is the establishment of our first Living Wage Reference Prices for banana workers.

Regarding growth and innovation, Fairtrade has strengthened existing relationships, explored new market directions, and provided supply chain services benefiting producers and businesses. One example is the Fairtrade Sustainable Banana project, funded by the French Development Agency and Carrefour, which has helped Peruvian and Dominican producer organizations increase their market competitiveness and resilience. On the advocacy front, Fairtrade has addressed a range of interconnected issues, including living incomes as part of corporate due diligence, deforestation, and climate resilience. It has campaigned to include living incomes, wages, and responsible purchasing practices in the European Union Corporate Social Responsibility Due Diligence Directive.

The report describes several data-driven platforms and services for digitalizing fairer supply chains. The launch of the Fairtrade banana dashboard in 2023, for example, provides producers and companies with a comprehensive source of information about specific origins, Fairtrade sales and Premium amounts, living wage data, research findings, and more.
