2024-06-14

One Banana eagerly awaits participating in the highly anticipated Organic Produce Summit (OPS) next month. This year has been a significant milestone for our vertically integrated family business as we launched Planeta. This new sustainability strategy will drive substantial change and redefine sustainable food systems. At OPS, One Banana is excited to expand its network and proudly showcase its sustainably grown fresh bananas, including premium and organic varieties. We will emphasize our unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovation and our mission to foster a healthier planet through responsible agricultural practices.

This year, One Banana has introduced PlanetA, a game-changing sustainability strategy designed to drive significant change and redefine sustainable food systems.  Planeta, derived from the essence of One Banana, strongly emphasizes the planet, highlighting the company's mission to drive change through sustainability. It embodies the belief that Earth is our only home and that we are responsible for all, and it serves as One Banana's action plan to nurture our shared home. Recognizing that growth and profitability are crucial to success, One Banana advocates a perspective beyond mere financial gain. The company's commitment to sustainability includes setting a Net Zero goal. In line with the SBT initiative's science-based reduction targets, One Banana is dedicated to significantly reducing corporate CO2 emissions.

This commitment contributes to the Gigaton Project's goal of working with other companies to reduce, avoid, or capture more than one gigaton of CO2e emissions. Since 2023, One Banana has achieved Giga Guru status, a recognition from Walmart. One Banana spearheads adopting and establishing regenerative agricultural practices for sustainable banana farming in a pilot model. Through close collaboration with global NGOs and academia, it is developing a production model that promotes environmental restoration while safeguarding agrarian productivity.
